Ø Fairford Art Society will meet on Thursday February 4 at 7.30pm in Fairford Community Centre. The theme is “Mixed Media” with Soraya French (www.sorayafrench.com). Members £1, guests £3. Call Liz Spurway on 01285 712715 for details.
Ø The Lechlade and District Lions Club (which incorporates Fairford) will be holding a Book Sale in the New Inn, Lechlade on Saturday February 6 between 11am and 12.30pm. Books to suit all interests. All funds raised go to support local, national and international charities.
Ø You are invited to meet up with friends old and new for a cup of tea/coffee and cake between 2pm and 4pm on the first Friday of each month at Fairford United Church, Milton Street, Fairford.
Ø On Tuesday February 9, the Community Bus will run a trip to Sainsbury’s departing Fairford at 1pm and returning at 3.30pm. Cost £3.10. On Wednesday February 10, the trip will be to Witney departing Fairford at 10am and returning at 2pm. Cost £6. To book a seat or for more information, call at the Volunteer Bureau office in the Community Centre or ring on 01285 713852 or 07528 969181.
Ø The next full Town Council meeting will be held on Tuesday February 9 at 7pm in the Barker Room, Fairford Community Centre. Members of the public are welcome to attend. For details or an agenda, call the Town Clerk on 01285 712344.
Ø Fairford Gardeners’ Club will start its new year’s programme on Thursday February 11 at 7.30pm when a talk will be given by a local plants man, Martin Young. The meeting and all future meetings will now be held in Fairford Library. Schedules for the Spring Show will be ready for collection at this meeting. Visitors are always welcome. Ø Tickets are now available for the Valentine Pudding Evening being held in the Palmer Hall on Friday February 12 at 7.30pm. They cost £5 and are available by phoning 01285 712189 or from Fairford Post Office.
Ø If you have young children and enjoy using the children’s play equipment with them in the Walnut Tree Field, would you like to have some input about how this facility could develop in the future? If you would like to help with advice, ideas or practical support, please contact Fairford Town Council on 01285 712344.
Ø The Town Council has a box of biodegradable doggy poo sacks, which are available for anyone wishing to use them. They are free of charge. Please call into the Town Council in the Community Centre.
Ø Meet up with friends old and new over tea/coffee and cake at Fairford United Church with the re-launch of Contact on Friday February 5 between 2pm and 4pm. The United Church also extends a warm welcome to their service on Sunday February 7 at 10am with Rev Nick Gleich (Communion). Fairly traded goods are on sale after this service.
Ø There is a Mini Praise for babies and toddlers today (Thursday) at 1.45pm at St Mary’s Church, Fairford.
