In preparation for the forthcoming 2010 season, Fairford Cricket Club will commence pre-season practice from Sunday February 21 at 11am till 12 noon at Fairford Sports Hall. Nets last for 6 weeks (last session is on Sunday March 28). New players of any standard are very welcome to join in. The Club runs two Saturday and one Sunday Eleven throughout the season and is extremely keen to invite boys and girls (born between September 1 1997 and August 31 2002). They will benefit from top coaching every Friday evening from April 9 till July 23. On Monday February 22, the Community Bus will run a trip to Central Swindon departing Fairford at 8.45am and returning at 12.30pm. Cost £3.10. On Tuesday February 23, the trip will be to Moreton-in-Marsh departing Fairford at 8.30am and returning at 2pm. Cost £6. The Fairford Country Market AGM will take place on Wednesday February 24 at 12 noon in Fairford Community Centre. Fairford and Lechlade Business Club will be holding their February meeting at Riverside House and Conference Centre, Watermoor, Cirencester at 7.30pm on Thursday February 25. Nicola Ménage will be speaking about how to “Power up your Business with the Clarity of your Words” and will explore how what you think and say about yourself influences how people perceive you and how changing just a few words can have a big impact on your success. Fairford Football Club needs to raise £1,500 towards the renewal of the flood lighting on the training pitch at Cinder Lane. Fairford Community Centre has just been awarded the Hallmark Level 1 Award, which is a quality standards scheme for Village Halls. It was considered that the Community Centre is a very well-managed hall with an enthusiastic and dedicated committee. Then the Energy Saving Trust (EST) is looking for 30 households to take part in a new project called Target 2050, which is managed by the Severn Wye Energy Agency on behalf of local authorities including Cotswold District Council. You will get a free in-depth assessment of energy use in your home and a personalised action plan for reducing your home’s carbon emissions. You will need to be prepared to work with the EST for one year to realise your action plan. In return, you will get 1-1 support, free impartial advice on improvements, help finding installers including checking quotes and specifications and links with other households who have done similar work.
