Ø  Fairford United Church’s Contact group will meet at 12.30pm till 2.30pm on Friday January 7 at the United Church, Milton Street (weather permitting).  Meet friends old and new over tea/coffee and light refreshments.

 

Ø  On Tuesday January 11, the Community Bus will run a trip to Sainsbury’s departing Fairford at 1pm and returning at 3.30pm.  Cost £3.50.  To book a seat or for more information, call at the Volunteer Bureau office in the Community Centre or ring on 01285 713852.

 

Ø  Due to the Christmas and New Year holidays, the Ad Hoc Book Club will be meeting a week later on Tuesday January 11 at 3.30pm at 7a Coffee Shop, Fairford.  This is a club for people who enjoy reading and discussing literature.  Cost £1.  No appointment necessary, just turn up ad hoc.  The book for January is Muriel Spark’s “Public Image”.

 

Ø  Fairford Town Council surgeries will now be held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month just prior to the Full Council meeting.  The next surgery will be on Tuesday January 11 at 6.30pm in the Community Centre.

 

Ø  The next full Town Council meeting will be held on Tuesday January 11 starting at 7pm in the Barker Room of Fairford Community Centre.  Any member of the public is welcome to attend.  For more information, please call the Town Clerk on 01285 712344.

 

Ø  The Fairford WI New Year lunch will be held on Wednesday January 12 in the Plough, Fairford at 12.15pm for 12.30pm.  For more information, please see the Notice Board in the Market Square or phone 01285 712600.

 

Ø  Rehearsals begin on Wednesday January 12 in Fairford United Church at 7.30pm till 9.30pm for Fairford & District Choral Society’s next concert in St Mary’s Church, Fairford.  The concert will be on Saturday April 9 and will be a performance of Dvorak’s Stabat Mater.    New members of the choir would be welcomed.  For details, contact John or Jane Read on 01285 713681.

 

Ø  The next film for the Flicks in the Sticks for children aged between 8 and 16 is “Toy Story 3” and will be shown on Saturday January 15 at 11am (please note new date and time) in Fairford Community Centre.  Tickets £3.  Transport available from home to film venue and return via the Community Bus.  For tickets or transport, contact Chris Roberts on 01285 712150 or Sandra Carter on 01367 253616.

 

Ø  Tickets are now available for the Fairford & Lechlade Business Club’s 4th Annual Awards Ceremony & Dinner on Friday January 28 at Lechlade Garden Centre.  They cost £28 for members and £30 for non-members to include a 3 course dinner with wine (using locally sourced and locally produced fayre), live music, grand auction and raffle.  Guest speaker will be Kenton Cool, who has climbed Mt Everest 8 times.  To book your ticket, contact Chris on 01285 712150 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
