 Little Lambs Baby and Toddler Group urgently need volunteers to prepare and serve cups of tea, coffee and the children’s snacks and drinks.  The group meets every Tuesday during term time at the Palmer Hall in Fairford.  Someone is needed who can spare one hour between 10.30am and 11.30am once a month (if there are enough volunteers, a rota will be set up).  It will involve making hot drinks for about 10-15 adults, preparing soft drinks and fruit for the children.  Then a little washing up.  This is a good way to meet new people.  The group would also like to welcome new parents or carers to take part in the play activities that will keep their little ones busy.  £1 per family.  First week free.  For more details, contact Louise Davies on 07773 913388 (daytime or early evening only).

 Dame Janet Trotter, the new Lord Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, recently visited TS Raleigh, the Navy Training Corps set up for boys and girls from Fairford, Lechlade and surrounding villages.  She spent over two hours with the Cadets and afterwards said that she “was really impressed by the way the cadets at Fairford are developing under the skilled team of instructors.”

 Following on from Fairford Primary School’s success in being awarded the Gold Singup Award in 2009, the children and staff are now celebrating receiving the Platinum Award.  It is believed the school is the first school in Gloucestershire and only the 49th in the whole country to receive this award.  There will be an official presentation after half term.

 Would you like to sponsor Fairford Festival 2011 taking place from June 2-5?  The Festival, which is a much-loved and well supported event, relies heavily on financial support from the local community and businesses.  Any amount from £25 upwards would be much welcomed and appreciated.  In return, you will be mentioned in the Diary of Events and on the website.  If you can help, please contact Trevor Hing on 01285 711122.
