Ø  As from today (Thursday), a Variation under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 will come into effect to prohibit the waiting along parts of London Road and Lower Croft, Fairford.  The proposed No Waiting At Any Time Restriction has arisen following concern from residents and Fairford Town Council regarding the safety of vehicle (and to a lesser extent pedestrian) movements turning out of Lower Croft on to the A417 next to the Railway Inn.  The Police, Emergency Services, Road Haulage Association, Fairford Town Council and the County Councillor have all been consulted and have raised no objection to the proposal.  To see a map showing the full restrictions, please contact the Town Council office.

Ø  Complaints have been received about dog fouling outside the Co-Op and along the High Street.  Would dog owners please take responsibility for their pets and clear up any mess left by their dogs?  Offenders could receive up to a £1000 fine for allowing their dogs to foul the pavement and pet owners are reminded that this area is monitored by cctv.

Ø  Fairford Town Council hosted a network meeting on behalf of Gloucestershire Market Towns Forum last Friday and heard about the future of youth services within Gloucestershire from a panel consisting of John Ellis, GMTF Board Member; Mark Hawthorne, Leader of GCC; Mark Parker, GCC Officer for The Big Community; Asst Chief Constable Ivor Twydell and Bill Whelan from Churchdown Parish Council.  Although GCC has committed to providing £50k per annum for the next 4 years for youth services, there is very little money available from GMTF to help this worthwhile cause.  The meeting was told that town and parish councils must take responsibility themselves for providing activities for young people to reduce possible anti-social behaviour.  The attendees at the meeting were also given the opportunity to find out more about Fairford’s new cctv system and the updated Healthcheck for Fairford.
