Ø The Royal British Legion Fairford Branch would like to receive donations of raffle prizes, books, jigsaws, and household bric-a-brac (but no electrical goods, furniture or clothes please) for their 90th anniversary event being held in Fairford Market Place on Saturday June 18. Ø On Tuesday April 26, the Community Bus will run a trip to Cheltenham departing Fairford at 9am and returning at 1pm. Cost £4.50. To book a seat or for more information, call at the Volunteer Bureau office in the Community Centre or ring on 01285 713852.
Ø On Thursday April 28, Moore Allen and Innocent will be auctioning over 40 works of art to raise money for Coln House School. The lots can be viewed on Wednesday April 27 and bids left in the usual way. Ø The next meeting of Fairford and Lechlade Business Club will be the AGM on Thursday April 28 at 7.30pm at Farmor’s Business Centre. Guest speaker will be Julie Girling, MEP for the South West talking about how Europe can help local businesses. Ø The Lounge Club is a place for single parent families – male or female and any age - to relax and make friends. Meetings are held every Wednesday morning from 9.30am till 12 noon in Fairford Community Centre. For parents, there are refreshments, magazines and internet access. Ø Happy Beans, the energetic and fun-filled pre-school music and movement group, has sessions available on a Wednesday at 9.30am and 10.30am in Quenington and on Thursday at 9.30am and 10.30am in Fairford. Ø Fairford Community Centre continues to improve its services to the local community. There is now a newly fitted projector and large pull-down screen in the Farmor Room and a second hearing loop in the Barker Room. The Centre recently passed Stage 2 of the Hallmark scheme, which is the quality standards scheme for Village halls, with congratulations from the assessors on the hard work done to achieve this level. There are 6 rooms to let, catering for various sizes from small groups to more than 100, including a large office suitable for business meetings, plus kitchen and a pleasant courtyard.
