Ofsted Success for Coln House SchoolColn House is pleased to offer fresh seasonal produce, direct from the kitchen garden and on sale every Friday morning from 11am to 12.30pm at the school. Please come and visit our market stall (in the wooden pagoda under the big beech tree) to buy fresh fruit and vegetables, herbaceous plants, house plants, mushrooms, home made preserves and pressed apple juice. The range of products on sale will change from week to week depending on what is available. Car parking available. Later in the year, we will also have bedding plants and hanging baskets for purchase. All proceeds are literally ploughed back into the garden as they fund spending on seeds, plant plugs, equipment and educational visits of a horticultural nature. The school is proud to announce that, for the second year running, our provision for residential students was classed as Outstanding by Ofsted after our most recent inspection in December – a recognition of the huge amount of hard work done by staff throughout the school. The school was praised for its high standards of highly personalised care of pupils, it’s excellent range of activities, robust safeguarding procedures, pupil safety, leadership and management and the positive relationships fostered between staff and pupils. According to the inspector, these are the key factors in a residential pupil’s development in relation to their educational and social needs, with staff providing strong and consistent role models. Head Teacher, Chris Clarke agreed: ‘It is pleasing to be recognised for all the good work that goes on at Coln House, not only by the Care Team, but every single person working at the school, as well as the governors, pupils, parents and carers. At a time when funding is a priority and under intense scrutiny for all special schools, we are immensely proud to get yet another ‘Outstanding’ judgement. The hard work of the staff and the on-going support of the local authority ensure that we continue to successfully meet the needs of all of our students.’
