CCTV PDF Print E-mail

Fairford Town Council installed cctv cameras a number of years ago to cover the Market Place and High Street. Grant funding was also given to Fairford Playing Fields Ltd to install a camera covering the Walnut Tree Field. The system is now in need of updating and work is currently ongoing to provide a more effective, modern system.

Allotments PDF Print E-mail

A number of residents have contacted Fairford Town Council recently to request the provision of allotments for the town. The Town Council does not currently own any land suitable for allotment use and so the first step is to locate possible areas of land. A request was made in the local paper and Council newsletter for anyone in the town to suggest/offer a parcel of land that the Town Council could purchase for allotments. Response has been slow to date and the Council is now starting to look at other options.

Bus Shelter PDF Print E-mail

Gloucestershire County Council has offered grant funding for a new bus shelter in Fairford. The Town Council is looking into providing a shelter along Hatherop Road as there is limited protection for people waiting for the buses. Initial discussions have taken place with Glos Highways and the first step is to decide on the most suitable location for the shelter.

Fairford Flag Festival PDF Print E-mail

The Fairford Flag Festival was initiated in 2007 following a suggestion from a local resident. From May to August the town is decorated with approx 50 flags and marks the start of a number of events in the local calendar such as Fairford Festival, the Royal international Air Tattoo and Fairford Steam Rally.

The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust kindly donates the flags, which represent the various nations that have been involved with the Royal international Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford. In 2008 Fairford Town Council ran a competition to design a new flag for Fairford, this was won by Fairford schoolboy James Landa-Font. Using the St George Cross as a base, he showed his favourite parts of Fairford: St Mary's Church, the Mill Pond, Local Shops and the Air Tattoo. A flag was created using James' ideas and was raised in May 2009. The Fairford Flag now flies from Fairford Community Centre along with the Fairford Town Council flag during the run of the Flag Festival.
