Walnut Tree Field Playground

In April 2010 the Town Council took over the running of the playground which it is aiming to improve. There are now two new toddler seat swings of different types to accommodate a greater range of young children. One is a pod style for the very young and one is the traditional cradle style. The spider climbing frame has had a safer play surface installed underneath it- grass and rubber matting replacing the previous sand with its wooden edging.

Several Town Councillors have had training to enable them to undertake weekly health and safety checks of all the equipment.

In 2012 the Council won a grant from “Awards for All” and used the money to update the trim trail, and add a roundabout, basket swing, basket ball hoop and aerial swing. roundaboutswing 1

The zip wire has also been refurbished.

Funding permitting, the Council is also hoping to add some adult exercise equipment to the Walnut Tree Field, and would welcome any suggestions from residents as so what sort of equipment they would use.
