Your chance to Help Shape a Better Future for Fairford
Last year Fairford presented a Neighbourhood Development Plan, setting out a vision of how Fairford should develop over the next decade or two. It was not fully accepted, and needs revision to better tie in with district plans and national policies and to include more hard evidence for our recommendations. So, we are tasked with producing a revised plan this year. The main emphasis will be to ensure that the new Plan presents the rationale and supporting evidence more clearly, although some new information is also being gathered.
The re-formed Steering Group invites expressions of interest from local residents or business people to join us in reviewing and finalising a revised Plan over the next few months. This is part of a wider programme led by the Town Council to make Fairford fully fit for the challenges of the 21st Century.
We are particularly interested in attracting anyone with a keen interest in local wildlife or environment, history/archaeology (there is a rich range from Neolithic to Medieval and more recent in the immediate vicinity) or local business development, or anyone with specialist experience in planning and/or transport matters.
The project will involve working with existing members of the group and some meetings with the Forward Planning team at Cotswold District Council and other relevant organisations. Times are potentially flexible to suit, although previously most meetings have been held on weekday mornings for practical reasons.
If you are interested – perhaps a longstanding Fairford resident with valuable local knowledge, or maybe have recently moved here and would like to be more actively involved in local affairs; please contact Roz Capps, Deputy Town Clerk (Tel 01285-712344) in the first instance. You are welcome to come along to one of our meetings, to find out more about what is involved.
We look forward to hearing from you!
